Support was also provided for applications to Walter Sisulu University.

Mr. Mgijima, from the Department of Human Resource Development, addressed the audience on the critical need for qualified educators in the province, especially in IsiXhosa, Afrikaans, Mathematics, and Special Needs Education.

“We are facing a shortage of teachers in key subjects and areas of specialisation. We urge learners to consider careers in teaching and apply for bursaries to help fill these gaps,” said Mgijima.

The event drew strong participation from learners at A.D. Tshayingca and Phakama uKhanye Secondary Schools, as well as students of Bizana Village, who welcomed the initiative.

Mr. Lothe, NEHAWU District Secretary, thanked the organisers and stressed the importance of reaching out to rural communities.

“Every child, regardless of where they live, should have access to educational information and support,” he said.
