ECPACC Invites Crafters, Artists, and Designers to Commemorate the Legacy of mamMaphetshana

In a solemn announcement, Eastern Cape Provincial Arts and Culture Council. ECPACC – EC Craft Hub has extended an invitation to crafters, artists, and designers to join a special commemorative gathering on Thursday, 16 November 2023, at 11 am. The meeting point is the Hub, where participants will then depart as a collective to the late mamMaphetshana’s home in Zimbane.

The purpose of this poignant visit is to pay tribute to mamMaphetshana, a luminary in the Craft Sector whose influence resonated not only in the OR Tambo region but throughout the province and beyond. Described as an icon, mamMaphetshana was renowned for her selfless dedication to sharing her extensive knowledge of traditional crafts and her technical finesse in bead production.

Crafters, visual artists, and design practitioners, along with officials, are encouraged to attend this gathering to honor mamMaphetshana’s invaluable contributions. The event aims to celebrate her legacy and recognize the impact she had on the broader creative community.

To further commemorate her memory, participants are invited to make a voluntary contribution, which will be pooled and presented during the visit to her home. This gesture serves as a collective expression of gratitude for mamMaphetshana’s unwavering commitment to nurturing the crafts community.
