As Diep City comes to an end, Lebohang Mpyana who played the role of Khelina in the telenovela is excited that she won’t be jobless and now has bagged a bigger role.
Mzansi Magic has confirmed that its contract wasn’t renewed. Diep City will sadly air the last episodes in March 2023, that simple means the cast which includes big stars like Dawn Thandeka King, Mduduzi Mabaso and Nozuko Ncayiyane will have to source for other streams of income if they haven’t found one yet.
Lebohang is beaming with pride as the telenovela according to her opened many doors for her. She said her festive season schedule was so busy that she hardly had time to spend with her family.
The actress bagged stand comedy gigs in Moletjie and Ga-Matlala in Limpopo. “I also got gigs as an MC, all because people spotted my talent as Khelina. It was a great experience to stand in front of the crowd popping jokes. I also got to MC Maphugugwe Festival.”
Not only that she also says that she got a very demanding role abroad where her latest character allows her to play a different character in different settings. Though she couldn’t go into details on the production as yet saying that she had signed a non-disclosure agreement.
She showed endless appreciation to those behind the scenes in Diep City saying these opportunities wouldn’t have been possible had it not been for Diep City.
“My highlights include the experience I have had as a new actress on DiepCity, and the moments spent with the cast, especially as a newcomer in television drama acting, it was nerve-wracking at first but as time went by I got used to be in front of the cameras.” Said Lebohang.
