In the early hours of Tuesday, 30 September 2025, South African Police Service (SAPS) officers in Whittlesea, Eastern Cape, recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested four suspects following a complaint at the local police station. The suspects were also linked to a robbery of two women, with stolen items found in the vehicle.

What Happened

A vehicle theft case took a dramatic turn on Tuesday when the complainant arrived at the Whittlesea Community Service Centre. While still providing details to the police, officers located the stolen car in nearby Sada Township. Inside the vehicle were four occupants and stolen items linked to a separate robbery earlier that day.

Further investigation revealed that two women had been robbed while jogging. Their stolen possessions were recovered during the vehicle search, linking the suspects to both crimes.

All four suspects, aged between 25 and 38, were arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and robbery. They appeared before the Whittlesea Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 02 October 2025.
