The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is expressing pride in the quick and effectiveness shown by soldiers in arresting car thieves at Tek Base. The suspects were arrested at Tek Base, Centurion where they were reportedly using the military facility as a cover for their illegal activities.
Alert members of Tek Base acted on crucial intelligence received from military police. Their observance paid off when they discovered a white Toyota Fortuner, believed to have been stolen, parked near the Engineering Formation within the base. With coordination from the South African Police Service (SAPS) and military police, the soldiers jumped into action, leading to the swift arrest of the five suspects.
In addition to the Fortuner, the suspects were also found with a second vehicle, a white Kia displaying fraudulent license discs. This evidence further indicated their involvement in an organized crime operation. The five suspects, identified as residents of Mamelodi, were taken into custody by SAPS Lyttelton and are now facing charges related to their illegal activities.
“The professionalism and bravery displayed by our soldiers exemplify the discipline and commitment of the SANDF,” said Rear Admiral Prince Tshabalala, SANDF spokesperson. The organization emphasizes that military bases are secure zones and warns that civilians engaging in criminal behavior within or near these facilities will face serious consequences.
