Maweni was arrested on January 19, following a tracing operation related to alleged assaults with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in 2019. She was taken into custody at Mondeor Police Station.

This development comes after initial reports suggested that Maweni’s bail application might be denied due to concerns about her being a flight risk and potential interference with witnesses. However, the court ultimately decided to grant her bail.
