Arthur Goldstuck, CEO of independent technology research firm World Wide Worx, which is conducting the study, says that was- n’t the case five years ago when only half of the respondents believed cybersecurity was an essential part of the business.

“Companies going over budget for cybersecurity looks like a positive sign, but it also increases the likelihood that budgets were undersized, to begin with,” he says.

Goldstuck, the lead analyst on the research project, revealed during a media conference that 91% of companies believe cybersecurity is important to business strategy, while the remaining 9% say it’s rather unimportant.

A key takeaway, according to Glodsstuck, is that 94% of organizations believe cybersecurity helps them effectively achieve their business goals. They also believe that 97% of their employees are more productive and consequently innovate more when they believe their data is protected.
