The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Corporate Services, Councilor Khusta Jack, addressed graduates at the Al-Fidaa School of Baking and Sewing during a ceremony in Nelson Mandela Bay on 10 December 2025. The event produced a milestone for residents, who gained new skills through the Foundation’s community programs.
What Happened?
Ten sewing students and nine baking students graduated from the Al-Fidaa School of Baking and Sewing.
The ceremony emphasized the Foundation’s growing role in helping unemployed residents develop practical skills, launch micro-businesses, and support their households.
Al-Fidaa’s programs extend beyond training. The organisation provides daily meals, clothing, clean water, and support to victims of violence — initiatives that uplift vulnerable families across the Metro.
Official Response
MMC Khusta Jack praised the Foundation for its long-standing contribution to the city’s social and economic well-being.
“To the Al-Fidaa Foundation: we thank you. Your contribution to humanity is immeasurable. You remind us that hope is strongest when communities take hands with government. May this be the beginning of many impactful collaborations ahead.”
He said the municipality remains committed to building partnerships that strengthen livelihoods and expand opportunities for all residents.
Community Impact
For many families facing economic pressure, Al-Fidaa’s training serves as a lifeline. Residents gain employable skills, confidence, and a pathway to income-generation — especially women entering sewing, baking, and small-enterprise sectors.
Local leaders say the graduation is another step toward sustainable community development and a more inclusive local economy.
