- Fuel Price Adjustments Announced: Effective 6 August 2025, fuel prices are adjusted based on global oil prices, local supply issues, and currency movements, as confirmed by Minister Gwede Mantashe.
- Decrease in Petrol Prices: Petrol prices for both 93 and 95 grades will decrease by 28 cents per litre, providing relief to consumers.
- Increase in Diesel and Paraffin Prices: Diesel prices will rise by approximately 63-65 cents per litre, and illuminating paraffin will increase by 32 cents, with retail prices up by 43 cents.
The Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Gwede Mantashe, has confirmed new fuel price adjustments effective 6 August 2025, reflecting global oil trends, local supply issues, and the strengthening rand.
Petrol prices will decrease by 28 cents per litre for both 93 and 95 grades. However, diesel users will pay more, with prices rising by 65 cents (0.05% sulphur) and 63 cents (0.005% sulphur) per litre. Illuminating paraffin goes up by 32 cents, and its retail price by 43 cents.
These changes result from slightly lower Brent crude oil prices, supply issues due to refinery shutdowns, and the rand’s appreciation from R17.84 to R17.76 against the US dollar.
LPGas users in the Western Cape will see a 78 cents/kg decrease, with the maximum retail price set at R35.30.
The slate levy remains unchanged at zero, and the updated fuel zone pricing schedule is available from 5 August.
