The first-ever Business and Investment Round Table between South Africa and Hong Kong is set to take place on 25th October 2024 at the Radisson Blue Gautrain Hotel in Sandton, South Africa. The event, scheduled for 12 PM, will be hosted by Mr. Herman Tse, leader of the Invest Hong Kong delegation, alongside South Africa’s Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau, Mojalefa Mogono.
The purpose of the Round Table is to explore investment opportunities and enhance bilateral economic relations between South Africa and Hong Kong. This event will also serve as a platform for South African businesses to explore avenues for collaboration with Hong Kong, a key financial hub known for its diverse investment services. The discussions are expected to reinforce business ties between the two regions, fostering a collaborative environment that supports economic growth.
“Hong Kong, as a gateway to the broader Asian region, offers unmatched access to major markets across Asia and beyond. This presents a significant advantage for South African businesses looking to expand their footprint in Hong Kong, China, and the region,” said Mr. Tse.
The Round Table aims to strengthen trade flows, enhance business opportunities, and expand cooperative boundaries between the two regions. It also aligns with the China-African Cooperation Action Plan launched earlier this year, which focuses on mutual prosperity through collaborative economic initiatives.
Various South African business stakeholders have been invited to participate in the event. The Round Table is part of a broader program accompanying Consul General Mogono’s visit to the region, which includes engagements with the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) and Invest Hong Kong from 19 to 28 October 2024. The visit will begin in Egypt and conclude in South Africa, solidifying ongoing diplomatic and economic efforts between the regions.
