The Mhlontlo Local Municipality has asked the public to refrain from speculating on the murder of one of the local councilors.
This follows the tragic death of Ward 23 Councillor Mkhululi Khonza, who passed away yesterday due to a fatal gunshot wound. Councilor Khonza was a dedicated public servant who served the residents of Ward 23 tirelessly with unwavering commitment and enthusiasm.
The municipality says Khonza played an instrumental role in advocating for the development and progress of the ward.
Mhlontlo Local Municipality spokesperson, Ms Mamela Mangcotywa says the circumstances surrounding Councillor Khonza’s passing are currently under investigation by local law enforcement agencies.
