The Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality concluded its first day of four-day grade 12 annual career exhibition on Monday at the Amadiba Hall A&B, Wild Coast Sun. The event, which aims to provide crucial career guidance to the class of 2024, saw an array of educational institutions and stakeholders come together to support the youth in making informed decisions about their futures.
Day one of the exhibition saw a culmination of efforts from various educational institutions, NGOs, and government representatives, all working towards empowering the youth of the Alfred Nzo East region. The event was graced by the presence of the honorable WMMLM Mayor, D. Mafumbatha, who highlighted the region’s achievements and emphasized the importance of collaboration in enhancing educational opportunities for learners.
“The Alfred Nzo East is number one in the province, and we are proud of the achievements we have made. We also acknowledge the immense support from the Alfred Nzo district municipality,” said Hon. D. Mafumbatha, Mayor of the Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality, expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts.
Mayor Mafumbatha stressed the significance of partnerships between educational institutions, the South African Youth Council, and NGOs/NPOs in facilitating access to knowledge for learners. Such collaborations, she noted, play a vital role in ensuring that students receive the necessary guidance and resources to pursue their desired career paths.
Throughout the exhibition, various schools, including Gumzana SSS, Vulindlela Comp Tech, Cangci Comp Tech, Majavu SSS, and Sithukuthezi SSS, actively participated, engaging with exhibitors to explore educational opportunities.
Notable exhibitors included Nelson Mandela University, King Hintsa University, University of South Africa, Walter Sisulu University, AgriSETA, University of KwaZulu-Natal, SA Maritime School, Ingwe TVET College, and Mbizana Career Development Centre.
The Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality’s initiative aims to minimize the costs associated with learners traveling to institutions seeking information by bringing higher learning institutions directly to the schools. By doing so, they ensure that students are equipped with relevant information to make informed decisions about their academic and professional futures.
As the curtains close on this year’s career exhibition, the Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality remains committed to supporting the educational aspirations of the youth and fostering partnerships that will continue to uplift the community for years to come.
