Students at the University of Fort Hare have been assured that their May NSFAS allowances are being processed and should reflect in their Intellimali accounts by the end of Tuesday, 30 April 2025, despite technical delays.

The update was issued by the UFH YBM² Alice Campus Branch, which confirmed that the requisition for payment had already been signed off by the university’s Chief Financial Officer and Vice-Chancellor’s office. The Financial Aid Office, in collaboration with the Payments Department, is actively working to finalize the transaction.

However, students were warned that the release has encountered delays due to slow internet connectivity affecting systems within the university’s domain.

“Despite the delays, these departments are working around the clock to ensure that all May allowances are released to Intelli today,” read the statement shared on the campus communication platform.

Once processed, students will be able to withdraw their allowances or transfer funds to their bank accounts, as per the usual system via Intellimali.

YBM², a student-led representative body, acknowledged the importance of the allowance for many and committed to providing real-time updates until the disbursement is complete.

“We understand the urgency and importance of this matter,” the branch said in its message to the student body.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) supports thousands of South African students monthly with living and study allowances, making prompt disbursement critical for food, transport, and other basic needs.
