A devastating incident has left the community of Jokweni location, Sulenkama A/A in Qumbu reeling in shock. A young man, fueled by jealousy, brutally stabbed four family members, leaving two dead and two fighting for their lives.
According to reports, the suspect forcibly entered his girlfriend’s home, enraged by her alleged infidelity. In a fit of anger, he attacked everyone in his path, claiming the lives of a 70-year-old woman, the head of the household, and his girlfriend. A 17-year-old girl and her 46-year-old mother are currently hospitalized, struggling to overcome their stab wounds.
The community is outraged, with many calling for the reinstatement of the death penalty. The bereaved family members are traumatized, and the incident is expected to have a lasting impact on those who witnessed the tragedy and future generations.
In response to the incident, Mr. Petros Majola, Director of Khula Community Development Project, a non-governmental organization advocating for children and elderly rights, has urged Eastern Cape Social Development MEC Bukiwe Fanta to deploy social workers to provide counseling to those affected by this horrific ordeal.
