Born and raised in the rural village of eMbhobheni within the Isikelo A/A in Bizana, Sixolile Faku’s journey as a poet began at a tender age, blossoming into a beacon of hope and inspiration for communities far and wide. While his roots are firmly embedded in the Eastern Cape, Faku’s influence extends beyond, capturing hearts and minds with his soul-stirring poetry.
Discovering his gift for poetry early on, Faku’s true musical odyssey commenced during his time at the University of Fort Hare in Alice. It was there that he first ventured into recording, releasing his debut album in 2012 titled “Sithule Nje Siyabona,” featuring collaborations with fellow artists Aphiwe Cingo and Pheziwe Qwathekana. This marked the beginning of a prolific journey that saw the release of subsequent albums, including “Laphuma Latshona” in 2014 and “Makukhanye.”
As Faku’s musical repertoire expanded, so did his influence, garnering nominations in esteemed national awards ceremonies. Notably, he clinched the prestigious Ukhonukamva National Gospel Music Award in the Western Cape, earning recognition as the Best Poet—an accolade that affirmed his profound impact on audiences.

Despite his commitment to education as a high school Science educator, Faku remains dedicated to his craft, tirelessly crafting and recording poems that heal and uplift.
