The battle to be crowned kings of the ABC Motsepe League and gain promotion to the second division has begun as teams ready themselves for a crunch season. Spears of The Nation FC had a scintillating campaign in the third tier making an appearance in the provincial play offs after completely dominating their stream while The Lions of Skoomplas experienced an excruciating season that saw them being relegated back to the lower league just after a season of promotion.
Both teams have made some changes to their team structures and are looking to begin their season on a high note. Bizana Pondo Chiefs will be looking to put their horrendous season in the Glad Africa Championship behind them and focus on their current campaign in a bid to regain promotion. The Hunters will be hoping that their wealth of experience gained their failed campaign can help them outdo their bitter rivals. The team recently bulked up their side with a youthful squad boasting of 15 players under the age of 23 years. Both teams have enjoyed two months of preparation while doubling up in the Nedbank qualifiers, which they have used as part of their preseason campaign.
The Blue Nation however, have had a better season compared to their counterparts and have also made a handful of signings using a balanced approach of mixing experience with youth after narrowly missing out on the national play offs and subsequently, promotion.
The mouth-watering tie is set to kick start 15h00 Central African Time at Mount Ayliff Stadium this Saturday, 23 October 2021.
