The Cross-Border Road Transport Agency (C-BRTA) and Matatiele Local Municipality (MLM) are set to co-host a Cross-Border Tourism Indaba on March 7th, 2024, in Matatiele. This significant event aims to foster constructive dialogue among domestic and cross-border tour operators, emphasizing the critical role of cross-border road transport within the tourism sector.

The Indaba will provide a platform for tour operators to engage directly with C-BRTA management, addressing pertinent industry issues and exploring collaborative solutions. This initiative seeks to strengthen relationships between industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies, ultimately benefiting the tourism sector and local communities alike.

Building upon commitments made during the Matatiele Investment Summit last year, the Indaba will also witness the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the C-BRTA and the Municipality. This demonstrates the Agency’s dedication to fostering meaningful partnerships and contributing to the sustainable development of the region.

“The Cross-Border Tourism Indaba reflects our collective commitment to nurturing a vibrant and inclusive tourism industry that promotes economic growth and cultural exchange,” stated officials involved in organizing the event.

The Indaba is expected to draw significant interest from stakeholders across the tourism sector, highlighting the importance of collaboration and cooperation in driving sustainable development and growth in the region. With its focus on enhancing cross-border road transport within the Alfred Nzo region and surrounding municipalities, the event signifies a crucial step towards harnessing the full potential of the tourism sector for the benefit of all involved.

The Matatiele Local Municipality and the C-BRTA are optimistic about the outcomes of the Indaba, anticipating productive discussions and meaningful outcomes that will contribute to the ongoing development and prosperity of the region’s tourism industry.
