Walter Sisulu University’s Faculty of Management and Public Administration Sciences (FMPAS) has launched the Center for Public Service Excellence (CFPSE) on 03 December 2025. A new hub designed to strengthen governance, skills development, and community partnerships across the public sector.
What the Center Will Do?
The center aims to promote good governance, academic integrity, and professional capability. It will offer short learning programs focused on performance improvement, accountability, and innovation within government institutions.
Leaders say the center will also support research, policy development, and collaborative projects that advance sustainable development in local and national government.
Speaker’s Purpose and Impact
In her welcoming address, Professor Rushiella Nolundi Songca said the centre will act as a bridge between the university and the community. She noted that its programs are designed to empower public servants and strengthen service delivery.
Professor Bulelwa Nguza-Mduba introduced the faculty and outlined the center’s five guiding pillars:
- Research and Policy Innovation
- Capacity Building and Short Learning Programs
- Public Service Innovation and Excellence
- Community Engagement and Developmental Governance
- Strategic Partnerships and Knowledge Exchange
She emphasized that the center is not only for the University, but for our partners across government, the private sector, civil society and the international community.
Keynote Reflections
Keynote speaker Professor Somadoda Fikeni reflected on WSU’s history and its long-standing contributions to local development. He applauded Prof Nguza for her leadership, vision, and the legacy she seeks to build through the new center.
