The ongoing strike in most health institutions across Eastern Cape in causing a strain in most patients and poor individuals who can’t afford private health care.

On Monday the 6th of March 2023 Health care workers under NEHAWU embarked on a peaceful protest demanding amongs other things salary increment and better working conditions.

The protest hasn’t affected the workers only but the lives of those hospitalized and those in need of health care services.

“We have decided to down tools until the government hears our cries. We are demanding 10 percent salary increment, 2.5 Housing allowance, bursary schemes for public servants children,  Job opportunities and, tools of trade,’ said NEHAWU the NEHAWU Eastern Cape provincial deputy secretary.

Social media is buzzing with  citizens complaining about the lives of their loved ones in hospital.
