What Happened

Prosecutors allege the three accused conspired and carried out housebreaking and theft during the 2020 incident at the farm. According to the NPA, the State will lead evidence from 22 witnesses over a series of sitting dates starting on 15 September, then 17 & 30 September, and 1, 3, 6, 7 and 8 October.

Official Response

NPA Limpopo spokesperson Mashudu Malabi said the prosecution is prepared to proceed and outlined the charge sheet: conspiracy to commit housebreaking with intent to steal and theft; two counts of housebreaking with intent to steal and theft; and, in Imanuwela David’s case, money-laundering.

“The prosecution is ready to proceed… [and] intends to call 22 witnesses during the trial,” Malabi said.

Community Impact

The matter has drawn national attention given the high-profile nature of the 2020 burglary. The scheduled sitting dates signal a concentrated hearing window that the NPA says is designed to move the case forward efficiently.
