A female of 45 years of age who worked as a security official at the Hawks offices in Belville has been arrested for allegedly falsifying her matric certificate.

Hawks Spokesperson Zinzi Hani say Phelisa Lande applied for the job, that was advertised in October 2021 and allegedly submitted a fraudulent certificate. Lande was appointed on the 1st of April.

Hani says the Hawks noticed the suspicious certificate and a careful and critical examination was made with the Department of Education.

She says Lande was arrested and released on bail for R1000 and will be back in court on the 6th of September for legal representation.
