The Mayor of Ngqushwa Local Municipality Cllr Sanga Maneli has provided three high schools with groceries to support learners doing grade 12.

This initiative comes after the municipality made discoveries that one of the challenge for grade 12 learners is that they do not have groceries when camping at school to prepare for the examinations. Mayor Maneli made a vow to support and encourage grade 12 learners to succeed in their studies.

On Friday 19 August, the Mayor visited three high schools under Ngqushwa Local Municipality which are: Emfundweni in Qetu location, Sobantu in Nobumba location and Mzuxolile at Peddie Extension. The purpose of this visit was to make sure that learners have food to eat while the prepare for their grade 12 examinations.

In the beginning of the year Maneli visited school that were not performing well academically however, things have changed because of the hardwork of learners and assistance from teachers and parents now the grade 12 results have improved.

Mayor Maneli together with his executives accompanied by the inspector from the Department of Education in Eastern Cape, handed over the groceries to three different high schools to support grade 12 learners camping in schools as they prepare for examinations.
