On Monday 06, November 2023 Matatiele local municipality handed over the contractor the access road and bridge in Nkosana – Mafube village at ward 08. The access road is 5,7 km long which includes a concrete headwall with pipes and the bridge. The budget for the project is 6.9 million, and the duration for the completion of the project is estimated to be 18 months as the contractor is already on site.
Traditional leader chief Nkosana said that they are very happy about the contractor handover as the community has being suffering for quite some time without the bridge and the road in their area. He also expressed their gratitude about the job opportunities that will be created by the construction project for the unemployed youth.
Portfolio Head for Infrastructure Planning and Development Cllr. Makopano Shale said,” we are delighted to handover this access road and bridge, as the Community has been asking for this intervention for a long time. There have been previous temporal interventions that were made before, but we are happy that finally there will be a long-lasting solution’’.
