On Wednesday morning the 4th of January 2023 family and friends woke to the heart-breaking news.

We are still in disbelief, but we have accepted even though his siblings are still shaken by this sudden death of their beloved brother. I don’t remember any dispute between him and his mother except for the minor things where he’d be reprimanded by both of us, me and his mom, nothing major, said Mhle Ganyile, his father.

Adding that he was with his son Olwethu the night before he was declared dead, and his son never showed any signs of depression.

This is not the first incident of its kind in our community. Not so long ago another took his life. I think it would be better if someone can come and talk to our youth about effects of suicide, maybe it will make more sense coming from a different voice”, Mr Ngquseka the community headman.

Olwethu’s friend said he is still saddened by his unexpected passing.

Tributes are pouring on social media with family and friends saying they remember him with his kindness.
