The council of Alfred Nzo District Municipality, has elected Cllr Sixolile Mehlomakhulu as the new speaker. This comes after the previous Speaker, Cllr Simthembile Khulu sadly lost his life in a tragic accident that occurred in December 2021.
The new speaker, Cllr Sixolile Mehlomakhulu has been elected and will take over the leadership role of Council, from Cllr Fikiswa Bewu who has been acting in the position, since Cllr Kulu’s untimely passing.

There were 36 Cllrs present in the meeting and Cllr Mehlomakhulu recieved 30 votes against another nominee, Cllr Smith. 6 Councilors abstained from voting.
