ANDM Municipal Manager appears in court within a month in the office

ANDM’s Municipal Manager Zamile Sikhundla was released on R5000 bail after he had handed himself over to the police on Monday, amid a request by the Special Investigating Unit. The case has been postponed to the 13th of February 2023 and will be sitting at Mthatha commercial crimes court.

Sikhundla came back to the office as the MM on the 1st of November 2022.

Meanwhile,the Municipality released a statement stating that as the Municipality it harbours a strong belief that there has been no wrongdoing on Sikhundla’s part as it relates to the matter at hand.

However the municipality respect the rule of law and will continue to subject any official to any investigation when it is deemed necessary by any authority.

Adding that they are concerned on the length of the investigation which has been there since 2017 with previous arrests of former CFO, former IDMS Manager and former SCM personnel, relating to this matter and to this day there has never been any conviction or conclusive evidence of any wrongdoing.

“He will not be suspended as we believe that he is innocent until proven guilty by court, but if he happens to be found guilty the municipality will then take action,” said Lixolile Phethela the Alfred Nzo district Municipality communications head.
