A woman and a three-month-old baby died while more than 30 other passengers were injured after a bus accident in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday.
This time the accident happened on the R56 highway between Matatiele and Cerdaville around 8 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday.
According to a statement from the Department of Transport spokesperson in the Eastern Cape, Unathi Binqose the bus was traveling from Gauteng to Matatiele with 46 people on board when the driver lost control.
It overturned and killed two people on the scene, a three-month-old girl and an adult woman, he said.
In a total of 38 injured passengers, at least 23 of them were seriously injured.
Binqose said some of them have been transferred to the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in Mthatha.
The cause of the accident is being investigated and a case of culpable homicide has been opened with the Matatiele police, he said.
