On Wednesday, the Department of Correctional Service for over 35 years took part in games that were played at Ebhongweni stadium in Kokstad, and their soccer team came out as winners.

Different government departments and local municipalities under Harry Gwala District participated in the games. In the finals DCS beat Kokstad SAPS with 3-1 and won a trophy, jerseys and medals. Greater Kokstad Municipality eliminated the DCS netball team in the finals.

Muzibuyile Mdlalose, the Acting Area Commissioner of Kokstad Management Area said he is very proud of the soccer team as they are defending champions of the tournament. “Last year we won this cup at Umzimkhulu, and I am very proud that we defended it successfully this year. As departments we always encourage our players to partake in sports,” said Mdlalose.

He shared the same sentiments as DCS National Commissioner, Makgothi Thobakgale after comrade marathon when he said sport does not only mould a person mentally and spiritually, but it completed the human being.
