Pirates started with intensity, pressing high and dictating the tempo early on. Their attacking intent paid off in the 42nd  minute when Makgpopa broke the deadlock through a well-worked move, and Maswanganyi scored in the 47th minute, finishing clinically to take a deserved lead.

Stellenbosch struggled to find rhythm in the first half, with Pirates’ midfield dominating possession and limiting their forward play. Despite a few attempts to push forward, Stellies were unable to seriously test the Pirates defence before the break.

The Buccaneers carried their momentum into the second half, continuing to apply pressure while remaining organised at the back..

With a two-goal cushion, Pirates managed the game effectively, slowing the tempo and maintaining possession while shutting down Stellenbosch’s attempts to mount a comeback.

Stellenbosch showed glimpses of determination late in the match, but Pirates’ defence held firm, with the goalkeeper rarely troubled as they comfortably saw out the result.
