This fatal accident occurred approximately at 09:30 Wednesday morning, on the N6 road Aliwal North 30 Fluakraal turn-off.
Six people died while one male sustained serious injuries after a head-on collision between two vehicles on 30 km from Aliwal North towards Jamestown.
It is reported that the driver of the mini truck succumbed to his injuries and died last night in hospital.
A double cab Isuzu with three females and two males from Konami heading towards Aliwal North and a Nissan UD Mini Truck with two males from Aliwal North collided head-on. All the passengers including the driver from the Isuzu double cab died on the scene, while two males from the mini truck were entrapped inside the vehicle and had severe injuries, and they were taken to Aliwal North Hospital.
The cause of the accident is still unknown and a case of culpable homicide would be open and Aliwal North for further investigation.
