Umalusi has confirmed that the 2025 matric results will be released on 12 January 2026. Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube will announce the outcomes. More than 927,000 candidates wrote the exams between 21 October and 28 November.

The council says marking and quality-assurance processes are on schedule. Marking began in November and concluded this month. Final verification and approval of the results are expected in early January, clearing the way for the national announcement on 12 January.

Minister Gwarube is expected to reveal the national pass rate and provincial performance during the results briefing. Education officials say the department is prepared for the release phase, including system stability for online access.
Learners will be able to get their results from 13 January 2026 through schools, SMS, USSD, and the Department of Basic Education website.
