Lizalise film premiere celebrates youth stories from Mount Ayliff and Tabankulu

A new community film, Lizalise, premiered in Mount Ayliff this month. Inspired by youth experiences in Mount Ayliff and Tabankulu, the story reflects the challenges many young people face while pursuing education and better lives under tough social conditions.

The title Lizalise idinga lakho Thixo, Nkosi yenyaniso translates to “God, please make Your will come true.” The film centres on two siblings whose dreams are crushed by poverty and a bitter, spiritually abusive aunt.

Filmmakers created it with heart, not funding

The film was made by passionate creatives from the Alfred Nzo District using personal equipment and skills. Despite having no formal budget, the team produced a moving story by working together toward a shared vision.
