The Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) visited two major projects this week in King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality. The oversight team inspected the Cibati Access Road in Ward 18 and the Community Hall in Ward 14. The visit aimed to track progress and ensure both projects meet required standards.
What Happened
MPAC, led by Chairperson Cllr S. Mavimbela, conducted on-site checks to assess construction quality and compliance with project specifications. The team walked through each site, noting improvements and identifying issues that may slow completion.
Mavimbela said, “We want projects that last. Our communities deserve quality infrastructure that serves them for years.”
Furthermore, the Committee urged Project Steering Committee members to remain active in monitoring day-to-day work.
Official Response
Officials emphasized that strong oversight helps safeguard public funds and strengthens accountability. The Committee also appealed to residents to protect infrastructure once completed.
“We ask communities to look after what is built for them. Vandalism delays progress and hurts everyone,” Mavimbela added.
Community Impact
Residents of Ward 18 expect easier mobility once the access road is complete, while Ward 14 welcomes the new community hall as a vital space for local events and services.
Because the projects support daily life in both wards, the oversight visit gives communities confidence that work will stay on track and meet promised standards.
