On 22 October 2025, the Matatiele Local Municipality continued its 2026/2027 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Community Outreach Programme, engaging residents across several wards. The three-day programme, ending on 22 October 2025, aims to strengthen community participation in municipal planning and service delivery.
What Happened
Day 2 of the outreach saw lively discussions as residents from Wards 7, 9, 15, 18, 20, 22, 24, and 25 raised key service delivery issues. Communities emphasized concerns about road infrastructure, electrification, water and sanitation, and youth empowerment. Municipal and sector department officials attended the sessions responding to questions and providing updates on current and upcoming projects.
Official Response
Municipal leaders commended residents for their active involvement. “This programme ensures that people’s voices are heard and reflected in our IDP priorities, we are committed to a planning process that truly responds to community needs,” said one official.
The final sessions cover Wards 5, 8, 11, 12, 17, 23, 27, 6, 1, 26, and 19, concluding the three-day outreach programme.
