The King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality has received much-needed humanitarian support for residents affected by the June 2025 floods. The official handover took place at Northcrest Hall in Ward 8, where various organisations donated essential household goods and groceries to displaced families.
The #NotInMyName organisation led the initiative, donating 20 beds, pots, dishes, irons, stoves, and bathing basins to help families rebuild their lives. In addition, Cricket South Africa contributed R5,000 worth of groceries and clothing, providing comfort to those still recovering from the disaster.
Official Response
Municipal representatives expressed deep gratitude to the organisations for their generosity and swift response. The support, they said, reflects a strong spirit of collaboration in addressing the aftermath of the floods.
“We are truly thankful to our partners for showing compassion during this difficult time. Their contributions restore dignity and hope to affected households,” said a KSD spokesperson.
The handover follows ongoing efforts by the municipality to coordinate aid distribution and repair damaged community infrastructure.
Community Impact
Families who lost their belongings during the floods welcomed the donations with relief and appreciation. The assistance ensures that households regain stability as they continue to rebuild.
Local leaders noted that this kind of intervention highlights how civil society and sports bodies can strengthen disaster response and social cohesion.
Residents also called for continued partnerships to address long-term recovery needs in the area.
