On 19 October 2025, Ingquza Hill Local Municipality paid tribute to two late choral icons, Mr. C.T. Ngqobe and Mr. L. Biata, during a packed ceremony at Lusikisiki College of Education. The heartfelt event took place as choirs from the O.R. Tambo District gathered to compete in various categories of a regional music competition.

The ceremony opened with moving tributes to the late composers, whose creative genius shaped generations of choral singers. Mayor P.N. Pepping described the event as a dream fulfilled, a moment to honour abaqambi bomculo (music composers) who made Lusikisiki proud. “We must rejoice this day in their respect, remembering their contribution towards days like this. The choirs that compete today must do so in the name of the fallen legends,” said Mayor Pepping.
The families of Mr. Ngqobe and Mr. Biata were present to receive tokens of appreciation on behalf of their loved ones, expressing gratitude for the municipality’s recognition of their enduring legacy.
