The R3 million project, which has created 16 local jobs, is part of the municipality’s broader commitment to strengthen rural development and restore dignity through modern, accessible community facilities.

During the recent project monitoring under the PR Week Programme that was led by the Mayor, Cllr Zukiswa Ndevu, she expressed satisfaction with the quality of construction and the project’s pace.

“As the municipality, we have a responsibility to monitor all our projects and ensure they meet the highest standards and are progressing well. Sikhumbeni is one of four community halls we are building this Financial Year to give residents safe, functional spaces for community gatherings and events,” said Mayor Ndevu.

Once complete, the hall will serve as a hub for community meetings, weddings, funerals, and youth programmes, eliminating the long-standing challenge of hosting events in open fields.
