Two men, aged 25 and 30, were arrested in separate incidents in Flagstaff on Monday, 22 September 2025 after police recovered unlicensed firearms. The arrests came following timely community reports and coordinated law enforcement efforts in the Lusikisiki and Mfundisweni areas.
What Happened
In the first case, Lusikisiki Public Order Police were patrolling along the R61 near Nkonzo when they received information about a 25-year-old man allegedly in possession of an unlicensed firearm. Officers approached the suspect tactically, recovering a 9mm pistol with ammunition. The firearm’s serial number was intact.
Later that day, around 16:00, Flagstaff Crime Prevention members intercepted a 30-year-old man from Mfundisweni who was allegedly armed while driving in town. Police recovered a 9mm pistol with an erased serial number and ammunition. Both suspects could not produce valid firearm licences and were arrested on the spot.
