Meet Duduzile Malimba, a 50-year-old businesswoman from Dindini location, Bizana whose story of starting a hair and nails product business reflects resilience, vision, and determination. After being forced into early retirement from her teaching career due to health challenges, Duduzile chose not to let her setback define her.

Instead, she followed her long-standing passion for beauty and launched Snazzy Hair & Nails, a salon business offering hair and nail products designed to help the people of Pondoland look and feel their best. “I wanted to make beauty accessible to my community, especially young adults,” she explains. “Rather than staying at home, I decided to start something that would empower me while serving others. My goal was to provide high-quality products and services, so people wouldn’t have to travel to Durban for their beauty needs.” To remain competitive and meet her customers’ evolving needs, Duduzile focuses on quality and innovation.

Her salon now offers services such as hair washing and relaxing, alongside premium products. “I believe in providing the best products and services to my customers,” she says with pride. Her journey has not been without hurdles. Operating from a container, she has faced unpredictable challenges such as weather and fluctuating customer turnout. Yet, her faith and perseverance keep her grounded. “As a business owner, you need to understand that not every day will be the same, especially when your business relies on people,” she advises. Duduzile’s message to aspiring entrepreneurs is both practical and encouraging. “Consistency is the key”, she said.
