The Play for Energy School Competition brought together learners from 11 high schools at Mthatha Stadium. The initiative, hosted by King Sabata Dalindyebo  KSD Municipality through its Community Services Department, encouraged students to showcase innovative ways of saving energy.

The competition featured schools such as Mthatha High School, St John’s College, Zingisa Comprehensive High School, Jumba High School, Zimele High School, and others.

Learners presented powerful messages about how South Africans can use energy more wisely, a topic that aligns with national efforts led by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy.

Each school received a participation certificate, while the top three winners were awarded:

Encouraging the learners, Ms Ndawone said:
