King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Rural and Economic Development, Councillor M. Dudumayo, visited Upper Qweqwe Community Hall in Ward 33 to hand over vegetable production inputs to local farmers.
Two co-operatives, Zinceba Agric Primary Co-op and Nqabayam Agric Primary Co-op, were the beneficiaries of the initiative. In total, 33 bags of vegetable inputs were distributed, including spinach, carrots, beetroot, onions, and cabbage.
The programme aims to alleviate poverty and encourage farmers to embrace sustainable farming practices that can create jobs and improve food security in rural areas. The beneficiaries received the support with appreciation, noting the importance of such assistance in strengthening agricultural development.
Councillor Dudumayo urged the co-operatives to focus on sustainable farming methods that can generate long-term benefits for their communities. He further encouraged the cultivation of onions, pointing out their scarcity in local production and the potential opportunity this crop holds for farmers.
