The King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality has started work on a new road upgrade in Ward 28, Mpunzana, as part of its Disaster Intervention programme.

Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Technical Services, Councillor Sibeko, officially handed over the construction of 3.4 kilometres of gravel roads to Sakela. The project is set to run for three months and will employ 12 local residents during its duration.

Ergoflex 520 has been appointed as the contractor responsible for carrying out the roadworks. According to the municipality, the project is aimed at improving access for residents in the area while also offering short-term job opportunities.

Councillor Sibeko said the initiative demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to supporting communities with better infrastructure and creating employment where possible.

The municipality encouraged residents to support the project and welcomed the positive impact it will have on transport and connectivity in Mpunzana once completed.
