1) Payment windows for the rest of 2025

SRD (R370) normally pays in the last week of each month, in batches. Always wait for the SMS or a payment date on your status before going to a pay point.

2) Check your SRD status (step-by-step)

  1. Go to srd.sassa.gov.za (Status Check).
  2. Enter ID number and cellphone (the one used to apply).
  3. Solve the security check and submit.
  4. You’ll see month-by-month statuses (e.g., “Approved”, “Pending”, “Referred”, “Declined”, etc.).
  5. If Approved, look for a Payment Date. If no date yet, you’re queued for a batch — keep checking.

4) Update or change your bank details (step-by-step)

  1. Log in at srd.sassa.gov.za → Banking Details.
  2. Choose Bank Deposit (fastest & safest) or CashSend.
  3. If banking: enter your account (no proxies), submit OTP.
  4. Wait for “Verification Successful”. Banking changes can take up to 7 working days to reflect for the next cycle.

Pro tip: Avoid changing banks repeatedly — it restarts verification and can delay payout.

5) Change your cellphone number (to get OTP/SMS)

  1. On srd.sassa.gov.za, open Change Cellphone.
  2. Enter ID, old number, and new number → verify with OTP.
  3. Keep the SIM RICA’d and switched on; don’t block unknown SMS during payout week.

6) Appeal a declined month (ITSAA)

  1. Go to srd.sassa.gov.za → Lodge an Appeal/ITSAA.
  2. Pick the month you’re appealing.
  3. Upload supporting proof (bank statements, UIF exit letter, affidavit, etc.).
  4. Submit within 30 days of the decline.
  5. Check back weekly; if upheld, back-pay reflects in a later batch.

7) Where (and how) to get paid

Best option — Bank account (in your name)

  • Faster, safer, no queues; funds reflect 1–3 business days from payment date.

Cash-out retailers (CashSend/SMS code)

  • Typically: Shoprite/Checkers/Usave, Boxer, Pick n Pay (availability can differ by store).
  • Bring ID and the SASSA SMS Code sent to your phone.
  • Go after you get the SMS; don’t queue early.

8) Safety & scam checklist

  • No fees to “unlock” a payment. SASSA never charges.
  • Never share OTP/SMS codes or ID photos on social media/WhatsApp groups.
  • Only use srd.sassa.gov.za and official SASSA contacts.
  • Keep your SIM active; porting numbers right before payout can delay SMS codes.
  • Report scams to the call centre: 0800 60 10 11.

9) Quick links & contacts (keep handy)

  • SRD portal: srd.sassa.gov.za
  • Status check / Banking / Appeals / Referred: all from the SRD portal home
  • WhatsApp: 082 046 8553
  • Call centre (free): 0800 60 10 11
  • Facebook: @SASSANews (for notices)

10) FAQ (fast answers)

When will I be paid after “Approved”?

Why is my status still “Pending”?
Monthly checks run in batches. Recheck in 2–5 days, especially around the 20th–month-end.

Will I get back-pay if my appeal succeeds?
Yes, eligible back months are paid in a later batch.

Can I change from retail cash-out to bank?
Yes — update banking on the portal; allow up to 7 working days to switch.
