  • Responsibility and Public Image: Members of the SANDF are reminded that their actions, whether on or off duty, reflect the discipline and public perception of the Force.

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has issued a strong warning to its members following rising incidents of explicit photos and videos being posted on personal social media accounts while in military uniform.

While the SANDF respects individual rights, it says sharing obscene or inappropriate content while in uniform undermines the dignity of the institution and violates its core values and military ethics.

Members are reminded that their actions, both on and off duty, reflect on the Force’s discipline and public image. Publishing or circulating explicit content in uniform is a serious offense and a breach of the SANDF Code of Conduct.

The Chief of the SANDF, General Rudzani Maphwanya, along with the Military Command Council, stressed that such misconduct is a criminal offense under military law and will be met with disciplinary action.

The SANDF called on all personnel to uphold the honour of the uniform and refrain from using it in ways that bring the Force into disrepute both in public and online.
