Despite recent devastation in OR Tambo District, government efforts remain strong, uniting to rebuild, restore dignity, and serve every community. A coordinated recovery plan is underway, driven by Strategic Planning and Governance Workstream, chaired by Mr. B. Matomela. This initiative is a collaborative platform bringing together all local municipalities and key government departments under one roof.
The era of working in silos is over. Today, there is one united purpose—restoring dignity, rebuilding infrastructure, and ensuring no community is left behind. From Nyandeni and Mhlontlo to King Sabata Dalindyebo, Port St. Johns, and Ingquza Hill, every corner of the district is represented, and every plan considers the needs of the people.
The focus is clear: accelerate recovery while building resilience. Every discussion is people-centred, aiming to restore hope where it was lost. Whether through housing, roads, water, or social support, the mission is to rebuild lives with urgency and care.
This united front includes critical stakeholders such as the Eastern Cape Office of the Premier, SALGA, COGTA Eastern Cape, and the Ntinga O.R. Tambo Development Agency. Together, these partners are committed to fast-tracking recovery and reimagining service delivery.
O.R. Tambo District is not just rebuilding structures, it is restoring unity, trust, and a shared commitment to development. When the government acts as one, it delivers better and that is the promise to every ward, every village, and every household.
