The call, endorsed by Executive Mayor Cllr Samkelo Janda, specifically targets operators along the Wild Coast Jikeleza Tourism Route and those actively promoting Mbhashe as a top-tier tourist destination. The municipality is prioritizing projects that support outdoor tourism, creative industries, and establishments graded by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA).

Tourism enterprises are encouraged to apply if they:

  • Promote Mbhashe as a premier destination within the Wild Coast route.
  • Host outdoor signature tourism events.
  • Operate TGCSA-graded facilities.
  • Support or promote the creative economy.

According to the official statement on the municipality’s website, the funding initiative seeks to strengthen the local tourism value chain and stimulate inclusive economic participation through sustainable tourism development.

Interested applicants can find the application form and detailed funding criteria on the Mbhashe Local Municipality’s website under the “Public Notices” section: www.mbhashemun.gov.za

The closing date for applications is 07 August 2025 at 16:30.
