Nelson Mandela Bay Executive Mayor, Cllr Babalwa Lobishe, has spoken out with heartbreak and outrage following the horrific discovery of two teenage girls who were found dead and burned in KwaNobuhle.
“This is a painful, senseless act of cruelty that has shaken us all,” said Mayor Lobishe. “No child should ever have their life stolen in such a brutal way. We cannot accept this as our reality.”
The Mayor expressed her deepest condolences to the grieving families, friends, and the wider KwaNobuhle community, saying the entire metro shares in their sorrow.
“This tragedy has cut deep. Our children are supposed to feel safe in their homes, their schools, and their communities — not fear for their lives,” she added.
Mayor Lobishe called on police and specialised crime units to act swiftly and decisively. “We need answers. The people responsible must be found, arrested, and held accountable. Justice cannot wait.”
She also urged anyone with information to speak up and assist investigators. “Staying silent only protects the guilty. Together, we must say no more to violence, especially against women and children.”
The Mayor emphasised the need for unity and community action. “We must stand together — as neighbours, as parents, as leaders — to protect our children and restore peace to our streets. KwaNobuhle deserves to be a place where young people can grow up with hope, not fear.”
The municipality is working with social services and other departments to ensure the affected families receive counselling and emotional support during this devastating time.
