Sinenkani FC has announced its intention to take legal action against the recent arbitration ruling delivered by Dr. Tsietsi Ramatsakisa, calling the decision “fatally flawed” and seeking urgent judicial review.
In an official statement, the club revealed that it has instructed its legal representatives to file a court application to set aside the arbitration award. This follows what the club describes as a series of procedural and substantive irregularities that render the ruling legally indefensible.
“After careful consideration, our legal team identified many irregularities by the arbitrator and we hold a strong considered view that it cannot stand legal scrutiny,” the club said.
Having exhausted all internal mechanisms within the South African Football Association (SAFA), Sinenkani FC said it had no choice but to approach the court “for a befitting remedy.”
In its communication, Sinenkani FC reminded SAFA of Judge Rusi’s Order No. 4, which explicitly stated that no Eastern Cape decider match may proceed until the matter is fully resolved.
The dispute stems from an earlier ruling by Advocate Olebele Makompo, Chairperson of SAFA’s Disciplinary Committee, who had ordered a points forfeiture in favour of Sinenkani FC — a decision later overturned in arbitration, prompting the latest legal escalation.
“We strongly believe the original forfeiture ruling must be upheld to ensure the rules of the competition are applied consistently and without bias,” Sinenkani FC said.
The club assured supporters that it will continue to act in the best interest of the game and promised to keep the public informed of any further developments.
