Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has expressed optimism ahead of today’s highly anticipated Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates, which kicks off this afternoon at FNB Stadium. This will be Nabi’s second time leading Amakhosi into South Africa’s most iconic football rivalry.
Speaking ahead of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) clash, Nabi acknowledged the significance of the encounter and the pressure it brings but remained positive about his team’s chances.
“The Soweto Derby is one of the biggest matches on the continent, and we are ready to give our all. I believe in the players and their ability to rise to the occasion,” said Nabi.
Chiefs Determined to Bounce Back
The clash comes at a critical point in the PSL season, with both teams vying for a strong finish. Chiefs will be looking to bounce back from their recent defeat to Pirates earlier this season and reclaim bragging rights.
“We are focusing on correcting our mistakes from the first leg and implementing the strategy we’ve been working on in training,” Nabi added.
Amakhosi supporters are hoping for a more composed and clinical performance from their side, particularly in the final third, where chances were missed in previous high-profile matches.

Orlando Pirates come into the game with the psychological edge, having won the last meeting 1–0. They also currently sit higher on the league table, but Kaizer Chiefs are determined to turn the tables.
