Ntseki Names Bafana CHAN Squad for Malawi Qualifiers

South Africa’s CHAN team coach Molefi Ntseki has announced a 23-man Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Malawi. The squad selection focuses exclusively on players plying their trade in the domestic leagues, in line with CHAN competition rules.

The first leg of the crucial qualifier will take place at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, Malawi, on Sunday, 5 May 2025, with the return leg set for a week later in South Africa.

Ntseki’s selection blends promising young talents with experienced local players. Notable call-ups include Keegan Johannes from SuperSport United, Kamogelo Sebelebele of TS Galaxy, and Monnapule Saleng, who has been in impressive form for Orlando Pirates. The coach emphasized that the team was chosen with an eye on competitiveness and long-term national team development.

“This competition provides an important platform for local players to gain international experience. We want to use this opportunity to build a strong foundation for the future,” said Ntseki during the squad announcement.

The squad will assemble for a preparation camp starting Monday, 29 April 2025, before departing for Malawi. South Africa will be aiming for a strong showing to secure their place in the 2026 CHAN tournament, which will be hosted in Algeria.

The announcement comes at a pivotal moment as Bafana Bafana seeks to deepen its talent pool and strengthen local football structures ahead of upcoming AFCON and World Cup campaigns.
